Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

A hand issues from a cloud, grasping as word, the point of which is encircled by a crown. Swords represents knowledge and thoughts and Aces represent new starts. Together these cards mean a new exciting idea or concept (especially linked to divine inspiration).

Upright
ClarityTruthBreakthroughNew Ideas

A new way of thinking-- or a new key insight into a problem or project. This gives you space to think about it as if it were brand new. This is the brainstorming phase, where no idea is bad and everything is possible. In relation to others, perhaps you understand someone's perspective better and might be able to form a deeper connection through shared communication.

Reversed

Be careful with divine inspiration, your new ideas and understanding can lead to a possessive energy. Perhaps you are not convincing people in the way you want to or perhaps you are not trying to convince them. Don't let others dim your ideas (be careful with sharing too broadly), but be accepting that others might not see the world as you do.

Its place in the deck.

Minor ArcanaNumber card
One of the 56 Minor Arcana. They are about what is happening in ordinary life right now. Each belongs to one of four suits, numbered Ace to Ten, plus four court cards.
SuitSwords ยท Air
Swords are the suit of Air: mind and language. A Swords card is always, underneath, about what you think, and the story you keep retelling yourself.
NumberAce
The numbers tell a story inside each suit, from a seed at the Ace to the full expression at Ten. Ace is the seed: nothing has been spent yet and nothing has been tested.

Ace of Swords for Aries

The Initiator

Aries is a Fire cardinal sign ruled by Mars, whose natural subject is the self, the body, first impressions. Swords are the air suit, so the Ace of Swords sits in Libra. Libra sits directly opposite Aries, so this card describes the half of the situation Aries habitually hands to someone else. What it wants is this: write the sentence down and stop rewriting it. Handing that to another person is exactly the habit. Aries is cardinal: it starts things, and this is a card about starting, so the danger is starting again instead of continuing. Air and Fire feed each other, so this card's logic will feel natural here. Natural is not the same as correct. An ace is a seed rather than a result. Upright it means the thing is genuinely available and completely untested.
