On the card

The knights are often bringing you what your heart has desired. The knight of cups has ventured far to bring you love, but is that really something another can find on your behalf?

A whirlwind romance, getting carried away in a moment. Possibly a grand declaration (a proposal perhaps?). Outside of romance, perhaps a boss is championing your work or a teacher is advocating for you.

Reversed

You thought a perfect romantic figure (a knight in shining armour) was going to fix all your issues, but now that the fervor has calmed you look around and see your problems are still unresolved. Your emotions are even more riled up.

Knight of Cups for Cancer in Love and Relationships

The Nurturer

Cups are the water suit, so the Knight of Cups sits in Cancer. That makes this Cancer's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Cancer already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, this is the element at full speed with nothing slowing it down.

When reading about relationships through a Cancer lens, the Knight of Cups says that you feel like a partner is someone whose silences you learn to read, whose needs you sense before they name them, and who you fear will discover you are not actually that intuitive. This has either kept you carefully managing the relationship to prevent abandonment, or led you to find someone who does their own emotional work and meets you halfway. The thing you're not saying out loud is the thing that matters most. The Cancer blind spot in it is being seen as a burden, or as someone whose needs are too much.

In practice that can look like heartache, or an old love resurfacing. Whatever form it takes, it arrives fast and without brakes.
