The Empress tarot card

"Stop producing. Start receiving."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

A figure sits in a luxurious chair in a field of tall grass. Embracing their own femininity and sexuality, they are able to enjoy the beauty around them as it unfolds

Look closer.

Upright
FertilityAbundanceNatureNurturing

This card represents the warmer/sensual aspects of femininity (and motherhood) whereas the High Priestess, the card before this, represents the more cool/mysterious aspects of womanhood. You have cultivated something wonderful through a connection to your inner divine and nature. Appreciate the beauty and passion that you attract

Reversed

You are not attracting the beauty and passion you want. Perhaps you are impatient or perhaps you must connect more with nature or your own raw energy

Card lore

The imagery (the crown, corn necklace and field) is a nod to depictions of Demeter, the greek goddess of the harvest (and mother to Persephone)

Major ArcanaCard 3
One of the 22 Major Arcana. They point to the large themes and turning points in a life, not the day to day. When one comes up, the reading is about something bigger than this week.
StageThe outer world
After the Fool, the Major Arcana run in three stages of seven: the outer world (1 to 7), the turn inward (8 to 14) and the return (15 to 21). This one is in the outer world: building a workable self out of will, learning and structure.

The Empress for Virgo in Work and Career

The Analyst

Venus sits outside Virgo's usual Mercury register, so this one arrives as unfamiliar weather. Upright, this is happening out in the visible world, where other people can see it and respond to it.

When reading about work through a Virgo lens, the Empress card says that you feel like work is the place you prove you belong, something that has to be done correctly or not at all, and a way to disappear into usefulness (or into the work itself). This has either led to you being the person things fall apart without, or to your burnout becoming a kind of quiet protest. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Virgo blind spot in it is the feeling of being useless, or of having wasted time on something that didn't hold up.

In practice that can look like a change large enough to reorganise the rest, or the job becoming a different job. Whatever form it takes, it is happening in the visible world where other people can see it.
