The Moon tarot card

"Not everything needs to make sense right now."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

A moon shines down on a dog and a wolf howling at the moon while a lobster comes out of the water to bask in its glow. The moon reveals what is hidden in the dark and asks us to be charged with our own magic. The moon is highly tied to your emotional brain and to water signs-- it asks you to pay attention to dreams (or nightmares) especially. Light and dark are at play with the Moon card (perhaps your shadow self needs to talk to you)

Upright
IllusionIntuitionUnconsciousMystery

Something is coming up from deep within, a perhaps unpleasant truth that needs to be spoken (maybe a relationship isn't what you actually want, you are mad at your friend but didn't want to say, or an opportunity you thought you wanted just overwhelms you). True self love accepts the parts of us that aren't as fun and light. You must open yourself up to the parts of you that were hidden and hear what they are saying and show them love.

Reversed

You are disconnected from your own emotions (perhaps avoiding a big or deep truth that might cause pain). Avoiding your feelings can backfire in unexpected ways so the work to unblock is important; but beware that unblocking yourself from deeply rooted emotions can be painful

Its place in the deck.

Major ArcanaCard 18
One of the 22 Major Arcana. They point to the large themes and turning points in a life, not the day to day. When one comes up, the reading is about something bigger than this week.
StageThe return
After the Fool, the Major Arcana run in three stages of seven: the outer world (1 to 7), the turn inward (8 to 14) and the return (15 to 21). This one is in the return: meeting what was buried, and coming back changed rather than fixed.

The Moon for Cancer in Love and Relationships

The Nurturer

Moon rules Cancer, so this card is not describing an outside force. It is describing Cancer to itself, which is why there is no distance in it. Upright, this is surfacing whether or not it was invited.

When reading about relationships through a Cancer lens, the Moon card says that you feel like a partner is someone whose silences you learn to read, whose needs you sense before they name them, and who you fear will discover you are not actually that intuitive. This has either kept you carefully managing the relationship to prevent abandonment, or led you to find someone who does their own emotional work and meets you halfway. The thing you're not saying out loud is the thing that matters most. The Cancer blind spot in it is being seen as a burden, or as someone whose needs are too much.

In practice that can look like a turning point rather than an incident, or meeting someone who changes the shape of it. Whatever form it takes, it is surfacing whether or not it was invited.
