In July 2026, Bloomberg and TechCrunch reported that the AI lab Midjourney had acquired Co-Star, with the deal having closed the previous spring. Co-Star's team of around two dozen people joined Midjourney, which is building its first standalone consumer apps. Terms were not disclosed. Co-Star has roughly 4.3 million monthly active users.

To be clear about what is and is not known: Co-Star has not announced any change to how user data is handled, and none of what follows assumes otherwise. But it is a reasonable moment to ask what you want from an astrology app, particularly if you have handed one your exact birth time and several years of daily behaviour. First, what Co-Star got right

Worth saying plainly, because the alternatives are easier to judge against it. Co-Star's design is genuinely distinctive, and nothing else in the category looks like it.
