Eight of Cupsfor Aries · The Future

Eight of Cups tarot card

"Walking Away isn't the question. What you do next is."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

This card is about seeing all the possibilities and not liking any of them. Sometimes you are told that the only options are the ones right in front of you, but in many situations that is not actually true. Walking away is also an option-- this card reminds us to not be limited by what we see before us and to seek out new/novel ideas

Upright
Walking AwayDisillusionmentSeeking Deeper MeaningCourage

Everything feels like it should be perfect, but deep down you are unsatisfied. Maybe you are unhappy in a relationship that on paper looks great, maybe you are miserable at a job that pays well, or maybe you come home after a hangout with your cup less full than when you left. Pay attention to these signs, they are telling you to seek out a new path. Cutting ties may be painful, but living according to your own values will feel more rewarding (and sustainable) long term

Reversed

You are denying your deep truth about a situation, you know it's not quite a perfect fit, but due to some reason (maybe trauma, maybe comfort, maybe fear of change) you are not listening to the signs that are clear in front of you. The eight of cups reversed reminds you to listen to your own truth

Eight of Cups for Aries in The Future

The Initiator

Cups are the water suit, so the Eight of Cups sits in Cancer. Cancer squares Aries, so the card asks for the move Aries is least fluent in: say the feeling to the person it is about. The friction is the content, not an obstacle to it. Upright, the work is available, and it is repetitive rather than dramatic.

When reading about what comes next through an Aries lens, the Eight of Cups says that you feel like the future is happening right now and you are late for it, something to grab before it passes (or before you miss your window), and the only thing that matters more than what is actually in front of you. This has either made you the person who sees what is coming and moves first, or left you burned out from trying to run toward every door at once. You already know what comes next, and you are afraid of what it will cost you to get there. The Aries blind spot in it is the feeling that nothing you do makes any difference, that you are not the center of the story.

In practice that can look like wanting something you had stopped admitting to, or a place that feels like home. Whatever form it takes, it is going to take unglamorous repetition.
