Cups are the water suit, so the Eight of Cups sits in Scorpio. That makes this Scorpio's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Scorpio already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, the work is available, and it is repetitive rather than dramatic.
When reading about relationships through a Scorpio lens, the Eight of Cups says that you feel like intimacy is something you test by revealing small secrets and watching what gets repeated (or protected), a gamble where the stakes are everything, and the only way to know if someone stays. This has either led to you building something real with someone who did not flinch, or to you leaving before they could. The thing you're not saying out loud is the thing that matters most. The Scorpio blind spot in it is the feeling of being fooled, or of being seen as naive, or of depending on someone who will leave.
