Cups are the water suit, so the Eight of Cups sits in Scorpio. That makes this Scorpio's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Scorpio already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, the work is available, and it is repetitive rather than dramatic.
When reading about yourself through a Scorpio lens, the Eight of Cups says that you feel like your own motives are worth interrogating endlessly, a mystery even to you (or especially to you), and something you will judge harshly before anyone else gets the chance. This has either led to you becoming very honest about what you actually want, or to you believing you do not deserve it. You have been so focused on who you think you should be that you haven't checked in with who you actually are. The Scorpio blind spot in it is the feeling of being fooled, or of being seen as naive, or of depending on someone who will leave.
In practice that can look like a feeling arriving late. Whatever form it takes, it is going to take unglamorous repetition.
