Cups are the water suit, so the Queen of Cups sits in Cancer. That makes this Cancer's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Cancer already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, this is the element held internally, by someone with nothing left to prove about it.
When reading about work through a Cancer lens, the Queen of Cups says that you feel like work is where you prove you are worth keeping around, a place where showing up matters (or where being essential protects you from being let go), and something that should eventually feel like belonging.
