Seven of Cups tarot card

"Choices isn't the question. What you do next is."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

A lucky card, tied to the dream world. A figure looks at all the future possibilities caught up in the bounty. Fantasy, romance, passion, power, anything is possible

Upright
ChoicesFantasyIllusionImagination

You are in the part of your journey where the world is open, you are being called to dream; lean into your own fantasies and dream big. Romantically there's lots of passion and lots of options. If you are building a company you are in the dreaming phase where (in your head) the customers are plentiful, the money is lucrative and the community is thriving. Let this phase of inspiration guide you and take notes. The next step is building on what you've dreamed, but for now enjoy the possibilities before you.

Reversed

The mania of daydreaming has set in and your dreamworld is bleeding into reality, keep your wits about you. Things that are too good to be true are often... not true (even the things you tell yourself). You have the ability to tell the difference, but it's murky right now.

Its place in the deck.

Minor ArcanaNumber card
One of the 56 Minor Arcana. They are about what is happening in ordinary life right now. Each belongs to one of four suits, numbered Ace to Ten, plus four court cards.
SuitCups ยท Water
Cups are the suit of Water: feeling and attachment. A Cups card is always, underneath, about what you feel and who you are attached to.
NumberSeven
The numbers tell a story inside each suit, from a seed at the Ace to the full expression at Ten. Seven is the private reckoning: assessment done alone, where self-deception is easiest.

Seven of Cups for Cancer in Self and Identity

The Nurturer

Cups are the water suit, so the Seven of Cups sits in Cancer. That makes this Cancer's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Cancer already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, the assessment is being made alone, which is where it is easiest to be wrong.

When reading about yourself through a Cancer lens, the Seven of Cups says that you feel like you are only acceptable when you are useful, your body is something that wants too much (or needs too much), and your own feelings are something to handle in private. This has either made you excellent at ignoring your own pain until it becomes a crisis, or taught you that being gentle with yourself is not selfish. You have been so focused on who you think you should be that you haven't checked in with who you actually are. The Cancer blind spot in it is being seen as a burden, or as someone whose needs are too much.

In practice that can look like liking yourself unexpectedly. Whatever form it takes, it is being weighed alone, where it is easiest to lie to yourself.
