Seven of Swords tarot card

"Deception isn't the question. What you do next is."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

A man in the act of carrying away five swords rapidly; the two others of the card remain stuck in the ground. Swords represent knowledge and seven represents trickery. Together this card represents a bit of a hair brained scheme.

Upright
DeceptionStrategyStealthGetting Away With Something

Be careful, a trickster is at play. Perhaps romantically someone says exactly what you want to hear, but does not mean what they say in their heart. Perhaps you are tricking yourself into doing something that you know isn't aligned with your values. Either way, be honest with yourself about what you actually want and need; don't resort to tricks to get there.

Reversed

Your plan is backfiring, you had a strategy and were executing on it, but it is just not working. You might have to be honest about your own shortcomings and see what you can do to change. People are not trying to hurt you, but your plan is not going as expected. Regroup and move forward with earnestness.

Seven of Swords for Virgo in Work and Career

The Analyst

Swords are the air suit, so the Seven of Swords sits in Libra. Libra sits directly beside Virgo, the one relationship a sign cannot see clearly because it is too close to get any distance on. What it asks for is this: write the sentence down and stop rewriting it. The difficulty is noticing it is being asked at all. Upright, the assessment is being made alone, which is where it is easiest to be wrong.

When reading about work through a Virgo lens, the Seven of Swords says that you feel like work is the place you prove you belong, something that has to be done correctly or not at all, and a way to disappear into usefulness (or into the work itself). This has either led to you being the person things fall apart without, or to your burnout becoming a kind of quiet protest. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Virgo blind spot in it is the feeling of being useless, or of having wasted time on something that didn't hold up.

In practice that can look like clarity about what the job actually is. Whatever form it takes, it is being weighed alone, where it is easiest to lie to yourself.
