Cups are the water suit, so the Ten of Cups sits in Cancer. That makes this Cancer's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Cancer already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, it is complete, which is not automatically the same as good.
When reading about money through a Cancer lens, the Ten of Cups says that you feel like money is safety and security you must earn by being indispensable, spending on others proves you are not selfish, and your own comfort feels like taking from someone else.
