The High Priestess tarot card

"You already know. Stop asking everyone else."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

A figure sits in balance between their own negative and positive thoughts. They appear in balance with the spirits and the natural highs and lows that come from life's journey. A tapestry of pomegranates behind alludes to fertility

Upright
IntuitionMysteryInner WisdomSubconscious

The high priestess sits like an oracle at Delphi, waiting to answer questions with a lot of book knowledge and a strong intuition. Drawing this card means you must take all your knowledge and intuition to act wisely in a situation. There is a coldness to this card, a bit of the alien moon goddess. Notice that both the oracle at delphi and an alien moon goddess are not, themselves, taking actions-- this card can also mean a bit of disconnection between intuition and initiative

Reversed

You are blocked from your own intuition. Perhaps you value others (or societies) opinions over your own inner voice.

Card lore

This card had been a reference to the myth of a female Pope (it was originally called The Papess). Hover it was changed to be 'high priestess' based off of a theory that tarot was originally created in ancient Egypt.

Major ArcanaCard 2
One of the 22 Major Arcana. They point to the large themes and turning points in a life, not the day to day. When one comes up, the reading is about something bigger than this week.
StageThe outer world
After the Fool, the Major Arcana run in three stages of seven: the outer world (1 to 7), the turn inward (8 to 14) and the return (15 to 21). This one is in the outer world: building a workable self out of will, learning and structure.

The High Priestess for Capricorn in Work and Career

The Architect

Moon is a luminary and Capricorn runs on Saturn, so this card lights something up rather than fixing it. It is asking to be seen before it is solved. Upright, this is happening out in the visible world, where other people can see it and respond to it.

When reading about work through a Capricorn lens, the High Priestess card says that you feel like work is where you prove you are worth keeping around, a problem you solve by solving more problems, and the only place that keeps score in a way you trust. This has either led to building something real and durable that outlasts you or to becoming so necessary that leaving would feel like abandonment. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Capricorn blind spot in it is being useless, being a burden, being the person who could not hold it together.

In practice that can look like a change large enough to reorganise the rest, or the job becoming a different job. Whatever form it takes, it is happening in the visible world where other people can see it.
