Three of Swords tarot card

"Heartbreak isn't the question. What you do next is."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

Three swords piercing a heart; cloud and rain behind. Swords represents knowledge and the three card represents collaboration. Together these cards mean a lot of incoming thoughts and ideas (not all positive) are coming at you from yourself and others.

Upright
HeartbreakSorrowGriefPainful Truth

You are dealing with cyclical thoughts and intense emotions related to a change you made recently (perhaps a breakup or a fight with a friend/parent or a project went poorly). Perhaps friends/family/exes are disappointed in you and letting you know. If you hold emotions in your chest-- imagine spreading the emotion to your thighs, hands, feet and giving your heart a breather.

Reversed

You are blocked by your fear of pain. Making mistakes and messing up is a part of life. You have the tools to handle sadness. Sometimes grieving things and giving them their time allows you to move on.

Minor ArcanaNumber card
One of the 56 Minor Arcana. They are about what is happening in ordinary life right now. Each belongs to one of four suits, numbered Ace to Ten, plus four court cards.
SuitSwords · Air
Swords are the suit of Air: mind and language. A Swords card is always, underneath, about what you think, and the story you keep retelling yourself.
NumberThree
The numbers tell a story inside each suit, from a seed at the Ace to the full expression at Ten. Three is first expression outward: it becomes visible to other people and stops being private.

Three of Swords for Gemini in Work and Career

The Communicator

Swords are the air suit, so the Three of Swords sits in Gemini. That makes this Gemini's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Gemini already believes it is good at: write the sentence down and stop rewriting it. Upright, it has become visible to other people, which is the part that makes it real.

When reading about work through a Gemini lens, the Three of Swords says that you feel like work is the place you prove you can learn anything fast, a problem to solve before it gets boring, and something you can always trade for the next interesting angle (or stay in if the conversation keeps surprising you). This has either led to real expertise across unexpected domains or to a resume that reads like someone with too many browser tabs open and none of them fully loaded. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Gemini blind spot in it is stillness, silence, the moment when talking stops and you have to feel what you actually feel, the weight of having chosen one thing and not the other.

In practice that can look like a hard conversation with a manager. Whatever form it takes, it is about to become visible to other people.
