Why do I keep pulling Eight of Wands as a Capricorn?

As a Capricorn, pulling Eight of Wands repeatedly suggests a focus on speed and movement. Ambition, structure, legacy, isolation. Pay attention to: sacrificing joy for achievement.

Eight of Wandsfor Capricorn

"Speed isn't the question. What you do next is."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

The card represents motion through the immovable-a flight of wands through an open country; but they draw to the term of their course. Wands represents passion and eight represents movement/cycles. Together this card represents a kind of flow state achieved by being in tune with the universe and moving with it instead of against it.

Upright

SpeedMovementSwift ActionMomentum

You are especially receptive to fate and kismet. A bunch of connected events are helping guide you towards your end goal. Perhaps you are invited to go to a woodworking class, at that class you make a new friend and that new friend introduces you to their brother (who is coincidentally the love of your life). Be open to moving quickly and saying yes to things. Follow your passions and joy and don't be afraid to let the universe take the wheel.

Reversed

Things are not flowing smoothly-- you are having a hard time finishing a task or finding the next one to start. Perhaps a trip got cancelled or a project is delayed. Don't be too frustrated, take this as a sign to slow down and enjoy the small wonders of life. Reconnect with your passions and loved ones.

Minor ArcanaNumber card

One of the 56 Minor Arcana. They are about what is happening in ordinary life right now. Each belongs to one of four suits, numbered Ace to Ten, plus four court cards.

SuitWands · Fire

Wands are the suit of Fire: drive and spirit. A Wands card is always, underneath, about what you want badly enough to act on.

NumberEight

The numbers tell a story inside each suit, from a seed at the Ace to the full expression at Ten. Eight is the work: unglamorous repetition, the part nobody posts about.

Eight of Wands for Capricorn

The Architect

Capricorn is an Earth cardinal sign ruled by Saturn, whose natural subject is career, public standing, authority, legacy. Wands are the fire suit, so the Eight of Wands sits in Aries. Aries squares Capricorn, so the card asks for the move Capricorn is least fluent in: spend the energy on one thing today. The friction is the content, not an obstacle to it. Capricorn is cardinal: it starts things, and this card is about finishing, so the pull will be to begin something new instead. The card and the sign pull in different directions, and the friction is the information. Upright, the work is available, and it is repetitive rather than dramatic.
