Six quick picks first, then your reading
Two beggars in a snow-storm pass a richly lighted window. Pentacles represents wealth and the five card represents a challenge. The five of pentacles represents a financial loss, or scarcity mindset.
Look closer.
This card foretells a financial hard time; perhaps a car breakdown or unexpected expense will come up. Maybe your job feels unstable or your partner might be losing their job. It can also mean something is causing scarcity mindset in terms of romantic or platonic relationships (it can hint at infidelity). You feel like you might become destitute (financially or emotionally). Try to not give energy to your fears of loss, and lean on your community to get through a tough time.
You have reversed a poor financial decision and made a comeback-- having to make do with less has taught you a lesson (perhaps who you can lean on or how strong you actually are)
Older decks just showed five coins. Pamela Colman Smith, who drew this 1909 deck, was among the first to paint a full scene for every card.

Five of Pentacles for Taurus
The Builder
Taurus is an Earth fixed sign ruled by Venus, whose natural subject is money, possessions, self-worth, what you value. Pentacles are the earth suit, so the Five of Pentacles sits in Taurus. That makes this Taurus's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Taurus already believes it is good at: change one concrete arrangement this week. Taurus is fixed: it holds on, and this card sits in the sustained middle, which is the one stretch fixed signs are actually built for. Earth meeting its own element is amplification, which raises the sign's strengths and its usual failure by the same amount. Upright, the loss is happening rather than being feared, which is the harder and simpler thing.
