Jupiter rules Sagittarius, so this card is not describing an outside force. It is describing Sagittarius to itself, which is why there is no distance in it. Upright, this is happening out in the visible world, where other people can see it and respond to it.
When reading about what comes next through a Sagittarius lens, the Hierophant card says that you feel like the future is wide open and full of possibility, something you can reshape as soon as this version stops fitting, and a reason not to get too attached to right now.
