The Lovers tarot card

"The love is real. The timing is the problem."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

Two figures stand in a garden of eden unsinned but with a guiding angel and a snake beneath their feet. The lovers are about finding balance in feminine and masculine energy, in heaven and hell, in temptation and abstaining.

Upright
LoveRelationshipsChoicesUnion

Strike a balance between the conflicting truths that make up who you are. Feminine and masculine, pleasure and patience. A new balanced love could be open to you. But this card pulls us to hold conflicting ideas in balance to find love

Reversed

Something is off in a critical relationship (with yourself, with a partner, with a primary attachment figure). The lovers remind us to prioritize balance and love while working through difficult conversations

Major ArcanaCard 6
One of the 22 Major Arcana. They point to the large themes and turning points in a life, not the day to day. When one comes up, the reading is about something bigger than this week.
StageThe outer world
After the Fool, the Major Arcana run in three stages of seven: the outer world (1 to 7), the turn inward (8 to 14) and the return (15 to 21). This one is in the outer world: building a workable self out of will, learning and structure.

The Lovers for Cancer in Self and Identity

The Nurturer

Venus sits outside Cancer's usual Moon register, so this one arrives as unfamiliar weather. Upright, this is happening out in the visible world, where other people can see it and respond to it.

When reading about yourself through a Cancer lens, the Lovers card says that you feel like you are only acceptable when you are useful, your body is something that wants too much (or needs too much), and your own feelings are something to handle in private. This has either made you excellent at ignoring your own pain until it becomes a crisis, or taught you that being gentle with yourself is not selfish. You have been so focused on who you think you should be that you haven't checked in with who you actually are. The Cancer blind spot in it is being seen as a burden, or as someone whose needs are too much.

In practice that can look like something you cannot un-see about yourself, or a season ending. Whatever form it takes, it is happening in the visible world where other people can see it.
