Some early depictions of this card showed him as a juggler balancing the many things in life. However, the magician here is perhaps invoking Merlin more than a juggler. The infinity symbol above his head has been used in mathematics since the 17th century, but the symbol is often referencing the ouroboros (a snake eating it's own tail) or the inner magical knowledge

Mercury against Pluto-ruled Scorpio puts the whole thing into words, which is either the relief or the trap depending on whether Scorpio then acts on them. Upright, this is happening out in the visible world, where other people can see it and respond to it.
When reading about relationships through a Scorpio lens, the Magician card says that you feel like intimacy is something you test by revealing small secrets and watching what gets repeated (or protected), a gamble where the stakes are everything, and the only way to know if someone stays. This has either led to you building something real with someone who did not flinch, or to you leaving before they could. The thing you're not saying out loud is the thing that matters most. The Scorpio blind spot in it is the feeling of being fooled, or of being seen as naive, or of depending on someone who will leave.
In practice that can look like a turning point rather than an incident, or meeting someone who changes the shape of it. Whatever form it takes, it is happening in the visible world where other people can see it.
