"Mastery isn't the question. What you do next is."
Six quick picks first, then your reading
An artist in stone at his work, which he exhibits in the form of trophies. Pentacles represents wealth and eight represents achievement. Together this card signifies a productive period and artistry.
This card signifies that your hard work is paying off-- you've put in the time and you are proud of your creations. Spend time crafting and creating. Romantically, perhaps you will find someone who has the same creative passions and/or will collaborate on a project together.
You are working hard but getting no where. A frustrating card-- you are spinning your wheels on projects that bring you satisfaction. Follow your passions and listen to your heart. Take a break.

Eight of Pentacles for Cancer in The Future
The Nurturer
Pentacles are the earth suit, so the Eight of Pentacles sits in Capricorn. Capricorn sits directly opposite Cancer, so this card describes the half of the situation Cancer habitually hands to someone else. What it wants is this: change one concrete arrangement this week. Handing that to another person is exactly the habit. Upright, the work is available, and it is repetitive rather than dramatic.
When reading about what comes next through a Cancer lens, the Eight of Pentacles says that you feel like the future is a home you are building in your mind, it should feel like a place you belong (or like a place that wants you), and you are afraid it will not come. This has either kept you planning endlessly without moving, or given you the patience to build something real. You already know what comes next, and you are afraid of what it will cost you to get there. The Cancer blind spot in it is being seen as a burden, or as someone whose needs are too much.
In practice that can look like a plan with an actual date on it, or somewhere to live. Whatever form it takes, it is going to take unglamorous repetition.
