Cups are the water suit, so the Seven of Cups sits in Scorpio. That makes this Scorpio's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Scorpio already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, the assessment is being made alone, which is where it is easiest to be wrong.
When reading about work through a Scorpio lens, the Seven of Cups says that you feel like work is where you need to know the financial truth before anyone else does, a problem to solve (or a power to hold), and something you will not announce until you are certain. This has either led to you becoming the person who understands the money and the leverage, or to you refusing to enter the room where decisions are made. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Scorpio blind spot in it is the feeling of being fooled, or of being seen as naive, or of depending on someone who will leave.
