Cups are the water suit, so the Seven of Cups sits in Cancer. Cancer squares Aries, so the card asks for the move Aries is least fluent in: say the feeling to the person it is about. The friction is the content, not an obstacle to it. Upright, the assessment is being made alone, which is where it is easiest to be wrong.
When reading about work through an Aries lens, the Seven of Cups says that you feel like work is the place you prove you are not wasting time, a problem to solve fast (or escape), and something that only matters if you can see the finish line tomorrow. This has either led to building something from nothing in record time or to leaving behind half-finished things because the sprint ended and the marathon scared you. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Aries blind spot in it is the feeling that nothing you do makes any difference, that you are not the center of the story.
In practice that can look like a resentment that has to be said out loud. Whatever form it takes, it is being weighed alone, where it is easiest to lie to yourself.
