Cups are the water suit, so the Seven of Cups sits in Cancer. Cancer sits directly opposite Capricorn, so this card describes the half of the situation Capricorn habitually hands to someone else. What it wants is this: say the feeling to the person it is about. Handing that to another person is exactly the habit. Upright, the assessment is being made alone, which is where it is easiest to be wrong.
When reading about work through a Capricorn lens, the Seven of Cups says that you feel like work is where you prove you are worth keeping around, a problem you solve by solving more problems, and the only place that keeps score in a way you trust. This has either led to building something real and durable that outlasts you or to becoming so necessary that leaving would feel like abandonment. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Capricorn blind spot in it is being useless, being a burden, being the person who could not hold it together.
