Death tarot card

"It's not over. It's composting."

Six quick picks first, then your reading

On the card

Don't fear the death card, a skull knight rides a white horse across a battlefield. The card seems grim, but the death card means a new beginning as much as it means something coming to end. Think persephone and hades more than the grim reaper. Or the death of winter leading to spring.

Upright
TransformationEndingsNew BeginningsRelease

You are facing an ending or a big transition. Will it be a phoenix rising from the ashes or the start of something new. Some trees only grow in the wake of a forest fire. Accept this part of the process of life and let the loss wash over you. This part of the cycle has ended, but a new one always begins

Reversed

You are energetically blocked by something from your past. Holding onto it is causing you more pain than you know. Everyone fears loss, but, alas, we cannot go through life without it. Feel the grief flow through you, but don't let it trap you in a place you don't belong

Its place in the deck.

Major ArcanaCard 13
One of the 22 Major Arcana. They point to the large themes and turning points in a life, not the day to day. When one comes up, the reading is about something bigger than this week.
StageThe turn inward
After the Fool, the Major Arcana run in three stages of seven: the outer world (1 to 7), the turn inward (8 to 14) and the return (15 to 21). This one is in the turn inward: the point where the tools that worked outside stop working.

Death for Pisces in Self and Identity

The Dreamer

Pluto works on a longer clock than Neptune-ruled Pisces is used to. Whatever this is, it will not resolve on Pisces's preferred timeline. Upright, this has turned inward, to the place where the outer tools stop working.

When reading about yourself through a Pisces lens, the Death says that you feel like yourself is something you discover by watching how others react to you, your own thoughts are hard to locate because you're always sensing the room first, and clarity about who you are feels dangerous or impossible. This has either kept you fluid enough to move through difficult situations, or left you so uncertain that you remake yourself each time someone new arrives. You have been so focused on who you think you should be that you haven't checked in with who you actually are. The Pisces blind spot in it is the moment they have to stop being useful and admit they're drowning.

In practice that can look like something you cannot un-see about yourself, or a season ending. Whatever form it takes, it is turning inward, where the usual moves stop working.
