This card can also mean someone in your life has true domain over wealth. Romantically this card means you need a partner who brings a mastery of finances to the table.
Someone in your life is using their wealth to hold power over you-- perhaps you are stuck in a job you dislike or perhaps you have a family member who is paying for something you need. Perhaps you are feeling a lack of generosity from others or from within yourself. Displays of wealth do not make you rich; being rich does not mean you are generous.

Pentacles are the earth suit, so the King of Pentacles sits in Capricorn. Capricorn sits directly opposite Cancer, so this card describes the half of the situation Cancer habitually hands to someone else. What it wants is this: change one concrete arrangement this week. Handing that to another person is exactly the habit. Upright, this is the element used out in the world, at the cost of still feeling it.
When reading about work through a Cancer lens, the King of Pentacles says that you feel like work is where you prove you are worth keeping around, a place where showing up matters (or where being essential protects you from being let go), and something that should eventually feel like belonging. This has either made you stay in jobs that do not pay you what you are worth, or helped you find a workplace that actually treats you like family. You have not asked yourself what you actually want from this work, only what you think you should want from it. The Cancer blind spot in it is being seen as a burden, or as someone whose needs are too much.
In practice that can look like a promotion that is really more work. Whatever form it takes, it is being decided by whoever holds the authority.
