Emotional BalanceWisdomDiplomacyCalm Authority

Someone (or yourself) is upholding the emotional wellbeing of you and those around you. A gentle forcefulness or protective energy around your heart. Unlike the queen of cups, the king represents a more active role (instead of nurturing/healing it's more about setting boundaries and moving forward).

Reversed

A malevolent force in your life, aware of the occult and intentionally taking actions against you. Perhaps a roguish figure who has two emotional lives that do not overlap. Avoid vices and scandal or people associated with them.

King of Cups for Cancer in Self and Identity

The Nurturer

Cups are the water suit, so the King of Cups sits in Cancer. That makes this Cancer's own card, so nothing in it is being read from the outside, and the flattering interpretation is the one to distrust. What it asks for is the thing Cancer already believes it is good at: say the feeling to the person it is about. Upright, this is the element used out in the world, at the cost of still feeling it.

When reading about yourself through a Cancer lens, the King of Cups says that you feel like you are only acceptable when you are useful, your body is something that wants too much (or needs too much), and your own feelings are something to handle in private. This has either made you excellent at ignoring your own pain until it becomes a crisis, or taught you that being gentle with yourself is not selfish. You have been so focused on who you think you should be that you haven't checked in with who you actually are. The Cancer blind spot in it is being seen as a burden, or as someone whose needs are too much.

In practice that can look like liking yourself unexpectedly. Whatever form it takes, it is being decided by whoever holds the authority.
